Consultation workshop "Local and regional planning for wild pollinators - policy actions to conserve and restore"

Public policies shaping territorial development at local and regional levels, in particular policies on land use and management, also shape the environment for pollinators. The main pressures on pollinators in both rural and urban landscapes include loss or degradation of habitats, pollution, invasive alien species and climate change. Besides local and regional policies, EU and national instruments are also important to support sustainable territorial development, including the EU regional development and agricultural policies.

The workshop aims to gather views and concrete proposals on how to tackle the pressures on pollinators at local and regional level, including in both urban and rural environments. To ensure lively discussion, the workshop invites experts from various fields (policy-makers at regional and local level, spatial planners, landscape architects, nature conservation sector, civil society organisations and land managers). Experts from the spatial planning and landscape architecture sectors are not expected to possess knowledge in pollinator conservation.
